Joe Byler, Senior Pastor
Joe grew up in Dover, Delaware, attended Bible College and served as a missionary to Native Americans in Canada before moving to Salisbury in 1991 to serve Oak Dale Church and our community. "I grew up in the Salisbury, PA area. I moved back to the area in 1988 with a passion for helping others to find healing and freedom in Christ. I had attended Rosedale Bible College in OH then went to Hesston College in KS. I then lived in Goshen IN for a year before moving back to Somerset County, PA because I couldn’t stop thinking about and praying for the people back here. Since then I have completed a Bachelor’s program in Psychology as well as become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
I would say one of my greatest accomplishment is marrying way out of my league to Laurie, my incredible wife of 23 years, and having amazing children; Bethany (20), Joel (16), Micah (12) and Ryan (7).
I’m a people person and I’m fully convinced that God never intended us to do this thing alone. So I consider my friendships some of the best currency I own. My hope is that, if we’re not already friends, maybe you and I could grab a cup of coffee and get to know each other better and change that!
